Biographical Notes

She received the Diploma of Mechanical & Aeronautical Engineering at the University of Patras in 2005. During her undergraduate studies, she participated at the European Project "Leonardo da Vinci" and worked on the design and analysis of composite structures in Kaiserslautern, Germany. She has completed her PhD thesis on Semi-analytical wave propagation models in composite plates of general laminations for SHM applications.

Biographical Notes

Research Faculty in the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics at the University of Patras. He holds a Ph. D. (2008) in Mechanical Engineering and BS/MS (2001) in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Patras. He was visiting scientist (Grantholder-30) for 3 years (2012-2015) in the ISPRA-EU Research Center in Italy working on the integration of smart devices in composite container structures for SHM and energy harvesting applications. He has fifteen years of experience in active materials, modeling, and damage detection in composite structures. He has published over 50 refereed journals articles and conference papers in the area of damage detection via analytical modeling and experimental investigation. He has participated in various Research Programs supported by Greek National Funds (Greek Ministry of Education), European Funds (FP6, FP7, CleanSky JTI, ESA etc.) and US Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR). He is a member of AIAA and is a registered member of the Technical Chamber of Greece.

Biographical Notes

Dr. Saravanos is a Professor at the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering & Aeronautics of the University of Patras (1999-date), where he teaches the courses in the areas of Finite Element Analysis, Structural Analysis, Structural Dynamics, Composite Mechanics and Introduction to Computer Science. He has established and heads the research group of Structural Mechanics and Smart Materials.

Prior to joining the University of Patras, he worked for 10 years (1988-1999) as a Researcher in the Structural Mechanics and Structural Dynamics Branches of the Structures Division at the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio.

He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University (1988), a Masters in Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens.

His research activities has been focused in the areas of structural mechanics, structural dynamics, smart materials, composite materials and structures, SHM, adaptive and morphing structures with emphasis on applications for aeronautics and wind turbine rotors. He has established the Research Lab of Structural Mechanics and Smart Materials. He is the author of over 200 technical papers and among the top 100 most cited scientists/engineers worldwide in the field of Aerospace & Aeronautics. He has received research support from EU (frameworks 5, 6 and 7, Horizon2020), national programs, and from NASA and EOARD/AFOSR for projects in the fields of aeronautics/aerospace and wind energy.

He is Senior Editor of the Journal of Vibration & Control, Associate Editor of Wind Energy and of the Journal of Aerospace Science and Technology. He is Fellow of ASME and Associate Fellow of AIAA, member of the ASME Adaptive Structures and Materials Systems (ASMS) Branch, of AIAA Adaptive Structures Committee, and member of the scientific committees of the International Conference of Adaptive Structures Technologies (ICAST) and the European Workshop of SHM (EWSHM).

Dr. Saravanos was the advisor of the best European Ph.D in Wind Energy (2012) awarded by the European Wind Energy Academy, and recipient of team Achievement Awards (1990, 1993, 1995, 2001) and Space Act Award (2000) at NASA Glenn Research Center. Dr. Saravanos is a Professor at the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering & Aeronautics of the University of Patras.

Biographical Notes

Undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Patras (Diploma in Mechanical & Aeronautics Engineering, 2010). Since September 2012, he has been working at the Computer Center of the Mechanical  Engineering & Aeronautics Dept. as Assistant Administrator. He is now a Ph D candidate at Dept. of Mechanical Engineering & Aeronautics, University of Patras (Structural Analysis & Active Materials Group); thesis topic: "STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY EVALUATION  FOR COMPOSITE STRUCTURES BASED ON THE STUDY OF WAVE PROPAGATION USING ACTIVE PIEZOCERAMIC SENSORS WITH INNOVATIVE TIME DOMAIN SPECTRAL FINITE ELEMENTS".

Biographical Notes

Dr. Theodosis C. Theodosiou holds a Diploma (2004) and a Ph.D. (2010) in Mechanical Engineering & Aeronautics from the University of Patras in the area of Computational Nanotechnology and Multiscale Modeling, as well as a Master's Degree in Information Systems (2016) from the Hellenic Open University. He has more than 15 years’ experience in material modeling, composite structures, nanocomposites and structural health monitoring (SHM). He has also a long experience in programming and software development. He has more than 25 publications in refereed journals and conferences in the area of nanotechnology, computational engineering and information technology. He worked as a Research Engineer (2004-2010) and Post-Doc Fellow (2010-2019) at the Lab. of Applied Mechanics and Vibrations at the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics (Univ. of Patras, GR). He has participated in various Research Programs supported by Greek National Funds (Greek Ministry of Education) and European Funds (FP6, FP7, CleanSky JTI etc.), and was co-instructor for the courses: Introduction to Computer Systems and Computer Programming. In 2018, he got elected as Assistant Professor in the Dept. Mechanical Engineering of TEI of Thessaly. Since December 2019, he is an Assistant Professor of the Dept. of Energy Systems of the University of Thessaly. Tought Courses: Metallic Structures, Finite Elements for Constructions, Design of Structures, Systems for Automatic Control, Technical Drawing.
